Don’t even think about buying that home before doing this one thing!
Looking to buy a home? Get the plumbing inspected before you do!
Buying a new home can be both thrilling and stressful. Before you decide to settle for sure, you should know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. Especially when it comes to your plumbing. It is highly recommended that you have a plumbing inspection before signing the deed and other papers so that way, if something does need to be replaced or repaired, you’ll have already received the estimate and know what you’re in for. More importantly, you won’t get shocked if a pipe bursts or starts to leak.
These inspections are worth every penny. Chances are, you don’t want to live in a home without functional plumbing and have to build an outhouse and rely on an outdoor manual water pump. Also, in extreme cases, busted plumbing could lead to flooding and implosion of your home, driving you into possible immediate homelessness.
Even if you choose not to go ahead with purchasing that particular house, having a plumbing inspection before signing the papers can also give you a better idea of costs that are currently within your budget. That way, you’re learning your red flags as you go instead of losing a whole lot of money that you can’t get back. Another reason to have your plumbing inspected ahead of time is to spot any plumbing issues before they get worse and as a result, even more expensive to repair or need to be replaced.
One of the last things you want to is to put money down on your new home only to have it flood and/or implode on you and be driven out into the streets. Owning a home does not come without its own consequences and if your plumbing or anything else isn’t functioning properly, then what’s really the point of living in it? Having an outhouse and relying on outdoor manual pumps isn’t exactly common or popular in this day and age so why drive yourself and/or your family into that? Also, the latter doesn’t have a water heater attached to it so during the bitter cold times, you would have to rely exclusively on bottled water or on water that you stored over time and that would be quite limiting.
So, please do yourself and/or your family a favor and make it a point to know whether there are any plumbing issues now.
